Skinny Voice Gallery!

Fun times were had by all at the last Skinny Voice Gallery of the year! Students and faculty alike enjoyed the art as well as student submissions for this gallery, themed Translation. The gallery opened April 10th at Vintage Timeless Coffee and was a huge success!

Thanks to everyone who made it out for the opening! And a special shout-out to Vintage Coffee; thanks for all your help!

Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure....you can thank me later.

Mrs. Gatewood submitted a wonderful piece and picture!

Ashleigh Hess' piece gathered a lot of attention! Muy bien, Ashleigh!

Thanks again, everyone! Don't forget the Soundings gallery on Monday night, 8:00 pm in the McGraw Pavillion!

Sigma Tau Delta Conference

From March 25-29, eleven Sigma Tau Delta members were invited to visit Minneapolis and read research or creative papers in front of an audience, as well as have the opportunity to listen to respected authors Chris Crutcher, Alexandra Fuller, Neil Gaiman and Michael Perry.

Visit www.english.org to learn more about Sigma Tau Delta and the Minneapolis 2009 convention.

Next year the convention will be held in St. Louis, MO, with the theme "Storytellers," and we hope to have another record number of accepted papers.

For now, here are the pictures taken at the convention:

CARWASH TIME

On January 31, 2009, Sigma Tau Delta held a donations-only carwash in the side parking lot of Mardel at 33rd and Boulevard to raise money to help pay for conference fees.

We made $806 in five and a half hours!! Hoorah!

First, a little video to introduce the day:

Angela, Taylor and Ben drying.

Group effort!

We're pretty good at washing cars. Just sayin'.

We had a visit from Memorial Road Church of Christ elder Max Pope!

We were super busy the whole time we were there - look at that line!

We figured out how to dry our towels off this year.

Gotta clean all over - even on top.

Bailey and Ben stopping to pose.

Chapter President Justin Neill showing off his squeegee and chamois skills.

Matt Miller hosing down some tires.

Chaplain Roy Rhodes gets to work.

Dr. Agan and Brandon Chism

English major Wil Norton came to get his car washed! Thanks, Wil!

Taylor Walling with the closed sign we had to make when we finished.

Kayla Saffell had to hold the sign, too - it was so sad how many people we had to turn away!

We had a great time!

We raised $806 and are looking forward to going to
Sigma Tau Delta national conference March 25-29!

Thanks to everyone who worked and everyone who got their cars washed!
